Call of Duty 4 tops 10 Million Sales

Whilst 360 version proves most successful.

Cementing its reputation as one of the biggest games of the last 12 months, it has just emerged that Activision and Infinity Ward's Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare has sold over 10 million units.

Infinity Ward studio head Vince Zampella revealed the figure to News.com, adding that the game enjoyed most success on the Xbox 360 and that the recently released map pack add-on had already sold 1.5 million units. These figures no doubt played a key part in publisher Activision's recent financial achievements, with its net revenues for the fiscal year of 2008 coming in at $2.90 billion.

Unsurprisingly, the Call of Duty series is set to continue, and it is thought that Call of Duty 3 developer Treyarch will be taking the series back to its Second World War roots for the fifth installment.
